Docusign Extends Agreement Intelligence to Small Businesses in Claude

Summary3 min read

Docusign and Anthropic are extending Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) to small businesses in Claude, helping owners search contractual obligations, draft agreements, and stay on top of obligations, without leaving the conversation.

Small businesses close deals, sign leases, and manage vendors just like larger companies, but they don't always have a legal or operations team dedicated to the paperwork behind it.

Today, Docusign extends its partnership with Anthropic: the Docusign connector is part of Anthropic's Claude for Small Business re-launch, which adds 43 new workflows and 27 new integrations that help small business owners with efficiency. With Docusign connected, small business owners can search contractual obligations, draft new customer and vendor agreements, create new SOW docs, and manage existing contracts directly in Claude, using plain language instead of switching between tools.

The integration runs on the Docusign MCP Server, which will be generally available on September 30, giving Claude secure access to Docusign's IAM platform including triggering multi-step workflows, sending and tracking signatures, and searching agreement data, not signature alone.

What Docusign brings to Claude for Small Business

In Claude, small business owners can ask things like:

  • "Find all my vendor contracts expiring in the next 90 days and flag which ones have a price increase clause."

  • "Draft a new client agreement from my standard template, fill in the details, and route it for my review."

  • "Summarize the obligations in this vendor agreement and flag anything I need to follow up on."

Every action runs through Docusign IAM, so the same permissions and controls apply as anywhere else in Docusign. Anything consequential, like sending a contract out for signature, still waits for a person to approve it first.

The agreement layer for every agent

Docusign pioneered e-signature and has spent the past two years building the first intelligent agreement management platform, becoming the center of gravity for agreement work for tens of thousands of companies. With the Docusign MCP Server, Docusign becomes the agreement layer for the agentic enterprise, open to every major AI agent.

Docusign Iris, the AI engine behind the connection, gives agents the context of past negotiations, accepted terms, and company policy, so they can act on agreements with confidence rather than just summarize them. An agent that can touch an agreement creates real exposure without governance, so the controls are built in from the start, account-level admin controls, global infrastructure, and permissions that carry over from wherever the business already manages its agreements.

Built on Docusign's work with Anthropic

Docusign's partnership with Anthropic began earlier this year when Docusign connected to Claude Cowork, and was part of Claude for Small Business's first launch in May opens in a new tab. This expanded catalog is the next step in that relationship, extending the same agreement layer to Claude for Small Business specifically.
