Developer Spotlight: Blanca Leon-Carter

Spotlight Developer, Blanca Leon-Carter

Blanca Leon-Carter’s passion for technology and helping others began in childhood. Her early fascination with computers led her to a computer learning program in high school at DeVry University, from which she advanced to a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and an MBA with a concentration in MIS. An early position with a local nonprofit, managing their computer network, blossomed into a decades-long career culminating as Director of Operations and Information Systems. In 2018, feeling the need for a career change, Blanca pursued a specialization in Apex development for the Salesforce platform, and now enjoys a position as senior consultant for Salesforce solutions with Slalom Consulting, a global technology consultancy.

In late 2020, Blanca led the DocuSign for Salesforce implementation for a public sector health entity, as part of a larger Vaccine Orchestration System implementation team effort. She quickly got up to speed with DocuSign product offerings via DocuSign University and led a development team to build a custom eSignature embedded solution for residents and medical providers to complete their consent forms and vaccine management documentation.  Blanca and her team leveraged the DocuSign Apex Toolkit to accelerate the build and ensure the solution provided a seamless and secure experience for all. With a small team of shared developers they were able to go live in as little as two months. The elimination of paper in-person signature consent form collection from patients and allowing medical providers to document the administration of vaccines rapidly and securely was a huge win. Time is of the essence, and the client was able to spend their valuable time on what matters most, keeping the community healthy instead of manual record keeping tasks. Blanca is currently working with her Slalom colleagues to launch a DocuSign Center of Excellence for their global teams.

When not busy with her daytime career, she helps lead RAD Women, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to close the gender gap in tech, one line of code at a time. You can find her at the Trailblazer Community Chicago, IL Developer Group and other WIT spaces or unplugging on her yoga mat and spending time with her family. You can reach her on LinkedIn and Twitter.
