Opening Remarks: An Intro to IAM
Docusign’s Group Vice President for APJ, Shaun McLagan, and Chief Product Officer, Graham Sheldon, opened the event with a clear opportunity - if you can connect the entire agreement lifecycle, your organisation can move faster, reduce friction and drive data-driven decision-making.
This is exactly what Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) is designed to achieve. As the conference continued, attendees got to learn exactly how leading ANZ organisations implemented IAM into their workflows, and the tangible results they achieved - but don’t worry if you weren’t in the room that day. We’ve included a detailed summary below, so just keep reading to find out!
Customer Spotlight: BOQ Lowers Costs by 83%
Michael Sokolich - Head of Everyday Banking and Home Lending Transformation at Bank of Queensland - took centre stage as the Customer Experience Award winner. We were proud to recognise BOQ’s achievements, especially as the organisation transformed its paper-heavy mortgage process with Docusign IAM.
BOQ’s results were impressive:
Home loan approvals reduced from 20 days to 1–3 days
37,000 staff hours saved (equivalent to 6 full-time employees)
83% lower cost per loan packet
These insights were a powerful reminder that digital transformation is truly at its best when customers feel the difference immediately.
Product Vision: Meet the Intelligent Agreement Platform
Graham Sheldon unveiled Docusign’s vision for an end-to-end IAM platform; moving beyond point solutions to connect agreement creation, negotiation, signing, management and analysis.
The star of the show was Docusign Iris, the AI engine powering new capabilities, including:
AI Assistant, which understands the context and history of an entire agreement
Docusign Agents for multi-step agreement tasks
Agent Studio, where organisations can customise agents around their own playbooks
MCP Server integrations with Claude, Gemini and Copilot
In short - less searching and switching across manual work, and more getting things done!
Live Demos: IAM for Cross-Functional Teams
Our live demos made the product vision tangible across some of an organisation’s busiest teams. Presented by Docusign leaders Catherine Doherty, Anna Rogers and Nathan Steiner, the demos covered a variety of industry-specific use cases, including:
Legal: AI-supported workflows that preserve context and reduce handoff errors
Procurement: Connected agreement data for better supplier and commercial decisions
Customer Experience: Simpler, mobile-friendly journeys for customers and employees
These demos proved that IAM is not just for one industry, sector or team. It can help everyone that creates, manages or relies on agreements - which, if you think about it, is a lot of professionals!
New Platform Capabilities: More Ways to Work Smarter
The day also introduced platform capabilities, specifically designed to help teams find answers faster and act with confidence. This included:
Worksheets that can extract and compare information across thousands of contracts
AI-Assisted webforms can turn static PDFs into dynamic digital experiences
Prevailing terms analysis that can identify the active version of complex terms across years of amendments
These are the kinds of tools that turn agreement data from something to manage, into something to use - and now, they’ll be at the fingertips of organisations across ANZ.
Customer Partner Spotlight: Infotrack and Microsoft
After a round of exciting announcements, we moved on to a keynote session that focused on some of our most well-known customers and partners - namely, Infotrack and Microsoft.
The session began with a live Q&A between Docusign’s Ed Knott and Infotrack’s CEO John Ahern. Together, they discussed a new Australian partnership bringing critical information, such as ASIC checks and property title searches, into Docusign Agents through MCP.
Later, in the Microsoft session - featuring Shaun McLagan and Microsoft’s Chief Partner Officer ANZ, Vicki Batka - their discussion centred around the “design problem” behind administrative drag. They highlighted that the answer is not always purchasing another tool. Often, it is a better-connected process - like IAM - that gives your people back their time and focus.
Customer Panel 1: The Resilient Enterprise
Moving on to our customer panels.
Hosted by Docusign’s Maria Gardner, our first panel brought together Mark Opitz, CIO of Acciona, and Dave Lambert, Head of GTM ANZ at Legora, to explore how organisations can scale intelligent automation without losing control.
Mark highlighted how Acciona has redesigned its Commissioning Role Appointment process from scratch. Instead of simply digitising a paper form, they transformed the entire decision journey; eliminating manual emails, SharePoint tracking, and data re-keying to capture information once and automate approvals.
Meanwhile, Dave discussed how automating legal workflows can reduce risk, mainly by eliminating handover errors and context loss. By connecting Legora with Docusign, legal teams can now draft and research in Legora, send agreements seamlessly for execution, and immediately analyse executed contracts.
Customer Panel 2: The Velocity Advantage
The final panel, hosted by Docusign’s Simon Johnson, featured Michelle Williams, Head of Enterprise Simplification at Westpac NZ, and Felicity Laczina, COO of The Mutual Bank.
Both panellists showed how removing agreement friction can accelerate revenue and improve customer experience. Michelle explained how Westpac NZ replaced paper-heavy loan drawdowns with mobile-friendly workflows, cutting turnaround from 5+ days to less than 1 - with 93% completed in less than three hours (and more than 13,400 frontline hours saved!).
Meanwhile, Felicity told us how The Mutual Bank automated loan top-ups with Nimo and Docusign IAM, reducing turnaround by more than half while still keeping digital audit trails and compliance controls in place.
Both organisations are now expanding these approaches, and Felicity’s advice for leaders was simple: choose one high-friction journey, bring the right cross-functional team together and redesign it end to end.
Keep the Momentum Going
We closed the day by returning to the central idea - the future of agreements is intelligent, connected and built for action.
The takeaway from Momentum Sydney 2026 was bigger than faster signatures. It was about giving people time back, reducing operational drag and helping the whole enterprise move forward. With IAM, you can achieve exactly that; and that is real momentum.
