How to Summarize a Contract with AI in Docusign
Have a contract that you want to understand quickly? Use AI-Assisted Agreement Summaries and Q&A in Docusign to summarize a contract with AI and ask questions about the clauses in your agreement. These features are available in paid Docusign plans and in our free account.
Here is a step-by-step guide to setting up a free account or purchasing a plan and then getting a contract summary.
Determine if you have a paid Docusign plan. These summarization and Q&A features are available in all Docusign plans, including both eSignature and IAM plans.
If you already have a paid Docusign plan or free account, log into your account.
If you do not have a paid Docusign plan, buy a plan or sign up for a free account and follow the steps to get it set up.
From the homepage of your Docusign account, click “Sign Document”
Drag and drop your file into the box or click to upload your contract from your computer or from cloud storage.
6. Once you have uploaded your contract, click “Sign.”
7. If the option to summarize your agreement doesn't appear automatically over your document, click "Summarize" in the top right corner.
8. Click “Generate Summary” in the box that says “Summarize this agreement”
9. The AI will generate your summary, surfacing the key information about the contract and highlights accompanied by the places in the contract from which it is drawing that information so you can jump to the source language and read it more closely yourself.
10. You can ask questions about your contract in the same sidebar in natural language.
11. Then you can fill out the requested information and sign the contract with confidence or request revisions from the person who sent it to you.
