Our Engineering & Tech Operations team builds and operates complex solutions for global business challenges that cross cultures, legal jurisdictions, and impacts millions of people and businesses every day. Our Agreement Cloud is a revolutionary solution that changes the way people live, work, and come to agreement.

This position
Our Front-end Systems team is responsible for building and maintaining DocuSign’s core JavaScript libraries used across the entire product development organization; with focuses on design systems, React, performance, scalability, and accessibility. As the Director of Engineering for this team, you will drive the future engineering direction of these shared libraries, as well as the accessibility program. The ideal candidate for this position is someone that is passionate about building teams that focus on delivering the best possible customer experience with performance, scalability, and efficiency in mind. We are looking for someone that also excels at partnering across various internal teams and departments, including Design, Product, Engineering, and QA.

This position is a people manager role reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, Sign and is designated Flex.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a passionate, agile engineering team to deliver features and improvements to our React component libraries that are high quality, scalable, and secure
  • Attract talent; you have a track record of finding and developing great talent
  • Drive the long-term technical strategy
  • Build and scale out the accessibility program
  • Provide technical expertise throughout all phases of the development lifecycle to help drive the product roadmap
  • Provide coaching and leadership in software best practices, automated test strategies, and work toward flattening the cost of change curve for our software products and services
  • Deliver expertise at agile continuous delivery, DevOps and TDD/BDD and will champion the culture, processes, and tools required to maintain a frictionless high-quality development environment
  • Collaborate closely with the design systems team to deliver components that delight customers while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt

Basic qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 12+ years of combined experience in software development and management
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in cloud / SaaS / enterprise software development
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience managing and leading an engineering team delivering JavaScript/React libraries

Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record leading geographically dispersed teams
  • A demonstrated track record of being a change agent, leaving every team and process better than you found it
  • Experience with CSS, AJAX, JSON, HTML, and React
  • Prior experience with SaaS development is preferred
  • Prior experience building and deploying libraries

Based on Colorado law, the following details are for Colorado individuals only: Colorado base salary range: $170,600 - $211,900 and eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
