A crucial part of our mission at DocuSign is supporting greater diversity in the tech industry. Therefore, we leapt at the opportunity to serve as a Gold Sponsor at the first inaugural ACT-W Bay Area conference.

The two-day regional conference was created by ChickTech, a nonprofit dedicated to “retaining women in the technology workforce and increasing the number of women and girls pursuing technology based careers.”

ACT-W couldn’t come at a better time: While the gender gap in technology is narrowing, there is still plenty of work to do: According to Girls Who Code (as cited in TechCrunch, 2016) “74 percent of young girls express interest in STEM fields and computer science. And yet, by the time they make decisions about what to study and where to start their careers, something happens. Only 18 percent of undergraduate computer science degrees and 26 percent of computing jobs are held by women.”

From speaking sessions to 1:1 coaching sessions to hands-on workshops, ACT-W is poised to provide valuable, applicable opportunities for women in the tech industry.

We’re proud to feature some of DocuSign’s female leaders at breakout sessions: Pooja Brown, Sr. Director of Web & Mobile Engineering, will be offering her insights at “Migrating Legacy Systems and Applications Through the Next Generation,” Amy Skeeters-Behrens, Executive Director of DocuSign IMPACT, will be speaking as a keynote panelist at “Profit & Purpose: Creating an Impactful Career,” and Tamson Ing, Technical Recruiter at DocuSign, will be leading “Power up Your Interview Prep.” Of course, these are just some of the talented speakers who will be featured at ACT-W. You can view the full agenda here.

Members of the DocuSign recruiting team will also be seeking out the right talent to fill several open positions in our Seattle, San Francisco, and Chicago offices. Our DocuSign IMPACT employee volunteers will also on hand to help with registration check-in, sponsor and speaker assistance, and ensure the entire conference goes smoothly.

Finally, all proceeds from our first annual ACT-W Bay Area Conference go towards providing STEM education programs to local high school girls through ChickTech.
