Our “We Are DocuSign,” blog series places the spotlight on employees from a variety of departments and provides a peek into what it’s like to work at DocuSign. This week, we sat down with Maggie, Director of Enterprise Sales, to chat about her day-to-day work, what she admires about her colleagues, and something none of her coworkers know about her.

Q: What do you do at DocuSign?

I manage our Enterprise inside sales team.

Q: What do your friends and family think you do?

They think that I manage a team that closes small deals for DocuSign in Fortune 500 companies.

Q: What is the best thing about working at DocuSign?

The team culture on my team and the Enterprise team in general. It’s a really fun group of people on the inside team and we have outstanding field reps that we support. On the inside team, we have a lot of fun offsites in San Francisco. The other thing I love is coming to work every day because I believe in what we’re doing. We have a great leadership team, and it’s exciting to know I’m part of a growing company.

Q: What department do you work in at DocuSign and what does that team do?

I am in Enterprise sales. When I first started, I created the EBR (lead generation) team for Enterprise, which generated 400 opportunities for the 20 field reps. We agreed that we needed more help to close some of the smaller transactions and to help those field reps hit their number. As a result, we built the Enterprise Sales Rep team that I currently manage.

Right now, we’re helping the team close small deals in massive companies who are not ready to buy organization-wide just yet.  However, after their first few purchases of Docusign, one or two years down the road, they’re going to be ready for enterprise-wide deployment and ready to use Docusign on a much larger scale after seeing the success.

Q: How is that team different than other teams at Docusign? Is there anything special about your team’s dynamic?

We are a tight-knit group. Many members of the ESR team are friends outside of work, and that’s something that I really value. Additionally, we have a “work hard/play hard” mentality on the team. We all will come into the office early so we can fully enjoy our weekends and time out of the office.

Q: What is the best advice you can give to somebody starting a new job in your department at DocuSign?

Come here eager to learn and ready to work hard. There’s a lot of learning and growth opportunities on the inside sales team.  We try to build an environment for everyone to be successful.

Q: What traits do you think your DocuSign colleagues most admire in you?

I hope it’s the same things I admire in them — the willingness to support everybody as much as I can, helping other people be successful, getting them the resources.

Q: What is something most of your colleagues at DocuSign don’t know about you?

I’m fitness-obsessed. I really enjoy yoga, pilates, cycling, and I still play basketball competitively. I played my freshman year of college, and when I moved to San Francisco eight years ago, I started playing on a traveling team.

Q: Where is your favorite place to work or have a meeting at DocuSign and why?

My favorite place to have a meeting is on the Embarcadero.  It’s the street along the water near the San Francisco office. If we do not need our computers, I like to walk down there over to the Ferry Building and come back.

Q: What is the secret to happiness for you?

I’d say not letting the little things get to me. Not letting stress overwhelm me. Taking things as they come without overreacting. Trying to be chill about things as things tend to work out (thanks to yoga).
