What a day! This morning, the brightest minds in tech came together for Dreamforce 2016. Approximately 170,000 filled Moscone Center for a day of networking, breakout sessions, keynotes, live music, and more. Here are some highlights from day 1 of the conference.

KEYNOTES & SALES SUMMIT  

We started off the day with some strong coffee and a stop at the Sales Summit to hear industry influenc
ers share their insights. Speakers included Adam Gilberd, Sr. VP of Commercial Sales at Salesforce, who shared four tips for sales success:

  1. Nail your go-to market.
  2. Build a pipeline machine.
  3. Be data driven (obsessed, even).
  4. Build your bench.

Thought leader in sales profitability Mark Hunter spoke on social selling, pointing out that:

“Your online presence is your online resume. #SocialSelling is about creating one-to-one relationships online.”

One of the most notable quotes, however? Plain and honest advice from social selling evangelist and startup advisor Jill Rowley:

“If you suck offline, you’ll suck more online.” 

Agreed.

We also attended businessman, author, and philanthropist Tony Robbins’ keynote speech “The Power to Break Through Your Ultimate Edge.” Some of our favorite advice from Robbins:

“The top resources are what? Creativity, joy, love, passion, flexibility.”

DOCUSIGN SESSIONS

At “Send” & the Art of DocuSign for Salesforce,” Product Manager Andy Tzou showed how to leverage DocuSign’s key features and products that are optimized for Salesforce Lightning. He also offered this fitting simile: “DocuSign is like bacon. It’s good with everything. And it’s good by itself.” Can’t argue with that.  

Caitlin Angeloff, Head of Global Social Strategy & Operations at DocuSign, shared her expertise at “3 Effective Ways to Supercharge Your B2B Social Marketing.” Her insights included how to build powerful support for social in an organization, to strategy on social listening, publishing, and engagement.

DEVELOPER FOREST

After the sales summit, it was off to the aptly-named Developer Forest. Imagine a darkened room with hundreds of illuminated booths, trees, a stuffed bear or two — and thousands of people coding, sharing, and discovering. The DocuSign Product Team were busy giving back-to-back DocuSign for Salesforce demos to those curious to learn more about our recent Lightning Ready announcement. Raffle entries poured in for the drawing tonight at 7PM — where one lucky attendee will win a Phantom 3 Drone.
