Dreamforce attendees hit the ground running this morning. It was only fitting: Day 3 boasted 46 keynotes and 1197 breakout sessions. From the Equality Summit to “The Future of Work” talk with Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, to the stars of HBO’s Silicon Valley dropping in on the Quip keynote, there was no shortage of opportunities to learn, network, and discover.
What were a few of our favorite moments? Read on.
“The Future of Work” with Ginni Rometty and Marc Benioff
Known as the “Fourth Industrial Revolution,” the digital age is only gaining exponential traction as technology becomes more sophisticated. During the keynote, Benioff interviewed IBM CEO Rometty about the future of technology, including AI, and its impact on society. “It’s our job to usher AI safely into this world,” said Rometty. “The purpose is to augment — not replace man.”
The two also discussed how the workplace itself would change due to how far-reaching technology truly is. “We are reaching incredible people who want to come into the technology industry, but don’t necessarily have a computer science degree,” said Benioff.
Finally, Benioff and Rometty discussed what drives true success. “Why is it that some people succeed and others drop off?” said Benioff. “I have a couple views on it,” said Rometty. “There’s a quote from Ann Richards, the former Governor of Texas. Someone said to her, ‘What’s the secret to your success? And she responded:’ ‘Passion and perseverance when everyone else has given up.’ You have to be passionate about what you do,” Rometty continued. “Growth and comfort will never coexist. Be comfortable with being uncomfortable.”
Wednesday brought more DocuSign sessions led by our own subject-matter-experts. Senior Product Manager Andy Tzou presented at “Contracts at Lightning Speed,” while Software Engineer Ken Naku led “DocuSign Labs: Beyond the Managed Package” and “E-signatures: Extending DocuSign for Salesforce with Lightning & Apex.”
Facebook LIVE: Kurt Shaver
For our third installment of our Dreamforce FB LIVE series, we interviewed Kurt Shaver a social selling expert with more than 10,000 hours of dedicated Linkedin sales training. During his conversation with Emmy award-winning host Jonas Tichenor, he discussed the world of social selling — from the history of marketing to the impact social media has had on the art of sales.
Quip Keynote + Stars of Silicon Valley
The highly-anticipated Quip Keynote took place today at Moscone West. Bret Taylor, CEO of Quip, shared how Quip isn’t just making workflows simpler, but driving cultural transformation as well. Silicon Valley fans were also in for a treat: Zach Woods and Martin Starr also made and (very humorous) appearance. Hop on over to our Twitter to see some of our favorite one-liners.
