Highlights from DocuSign Momentum 2019 Day 1

Yesterday we kicked off DocuSign Momentum 2019, our biggest customer conference to date. We featured customer stories from Keller Williams, Refinitiv, Shell, UCSF, and Walmart. We demonstrated many new products and capabilities within the DocuSign Agreement Cloud. And we talked about DocuSign for Forests with Jamie Williams, CEO of The Wilderness Society, and musician and Wilderness Society board member Dave Matthews, who also performed.

Here’s more on some of the highlights from Momentum Day 1.

Protecting the environment

Of course even before the official event got underway, we began the week as only an Earth-friendly company like ours can do, with Momentum attendees and employees supporting our mission to protect the planet by planting trees in a local S.F. neighborhood in partnership with Friends of the Urban Forest

Setting the stage

Chief Technology and Operations Officer, Kirsten Wolberg, Chief Operating Officer, Scott Olrich, and CEO, Dan Springer, welcomed the audience and set the stage for the conference, explaining DocuSign’s vision for making organizations more agree-able: easier to do business with, easier to do business for, and easier on the environment. Dan also introduced DocuSign’s recently named Chairman Maggie Wilderotter, former CEO of Frontier Communications and current board member of Costco, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Lyft, among others.

To finish setting the stage, Scott overviewed the DocuSign Agreement Cloud and its mission to help organizations modernize how they prepare, sign, act on, and manage agreements. Scott then welcomed to the stage CPO Ron Hirson to show the DocuSign Agreement Cloud in action.

End-to-end agreement automation

Ron and his team highlighted several new eSignature capabilities, demonstrated the DocuSign CLM contract lifecycle management product, and showed three new applications introduced this year introduced this year:

  • DocuSign Click, our new, easy-to-use, simple-to-deploy clickwrap solution
  • DocuSign ID Verification, the digital, mobile-friendly way to verify a signer’s identity using a government-issued photo ID
  • DocuSign Gen for Salesforce, the automated way to generate polished, customer-ready agreements straight from the Salesforce user interface

Customer perspectives

Even more rewarding than seeing these products in action was hearing how they are adding value for our customers. On that front we heard from some inspirational leaders who are changing the way their businesses are run and transforming the industries where they work by leveraging the DocuSign Agreement Cloud.

Fraser Hill, GM of Digital Solutions & Process Innovation, outlined his company’s perspective on the agreement process. Shell has integrated DocuSign eSignature, DocuSign CLM, Salesforce, and SAP to automatically generate, send, sign, and store agreements. This connected process has saved the company millions of dollars and drastically reduced the time it takes to complete agreements.

Eileen Kelly, head of business operations and planning at Refinitiv outlined how the company manages a complex sales effort that includes tens of thousands of products and services with customers in 200 countries around the world. To keep up with customer expectations, Refinitiv transformed this entire process from the moment a quote is built to the moment they deliver that service by leveraging tools like DocuSign eSignature and integrating it with other systems.

Next up Neil Dholakia, chief product officer of the world’s largest real estate brokerage, Keller Williams, described the platform the company is building to make it easier for real estate agents to spend their time and expertise with homebuyers instead of paperwork. He talked about how DocuSign Rooms for Real Estate helps Keller Williams host virtual rooms where buyers, sellers, and other parties in the transaction can collaborate on agreements and other documentation.

Finally we were honored to host Dr. Laura Esserman, one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2016, and a practicing surgeon and professor at UCSF. She is also the Director of the Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center and runs the WISDOM Study, one of the largest clinical trials in the history of healthcare. Using DocuSign and Salesforce, Dr. Esserman and her team built a platform that aims to enroll over 100,000 women in this ambitious study. We are proud to work with UCSF on this important initiative to transform cancer care.

Making an Impact

Since our inception in 2003, we have helped millions of people around the world replace almost 20 billion sheets of paper with eco-friendly digital processes. Earlier this year we announced a further effort to protect the environment with our DocuSign for Forests initiative. We started with a grant of $1M to the Jane Goodall Legacy Foundation to create significant, sustained global impact. But we didn’t stop there.

Yesterday at Momentum, DocuSign announced a $1M donation to The Wilderness Society, the leading American conservation organization working to protect the nation’s shared wildlands. DocuSign’s commitment over the next two years will support scientific research and innovative efforts to ensure that we protect our forests for generations to come. On hand to share their passion for forests were Jamie Williams, CEO of The Wilderness Society and Dave Matthews, environmentalist, member of The Wilderness Society’s Governing Council, and Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter.

In addition to its donation to The Wilderness Society, DocuSign is also partnering with Dave Matthews Band as a presenting sponsor for their BamaGreen Project Eco-Village, an on-going partnership between DMB and Reverb, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to empowering millions of individuals to take action toward a better future for people and the planet, that encompasses all of the environmental efforts undertaken by the band while on the road, in the studio or at home.

Finally every year as part of our Momentum hackathon, we host a hack-for-good challenge – and this year the challenge was to build a practical and innovative solution for The Wilderness Society. Google Cloud joined us in sponsoring this Hack for Forests and we were blown away by the amazing work from all teams. Congratulations to the Meet the Forests team for their winning mobile app that lets users visit forests and parks using augmented reality tours, and includes the opportunity to sign petitions from The Wilderness Society using DocuSign.

And that's just the highlights from Day 1. Check back tomorrow for our complete Momentum recap. A special thank you to our sponsors Salesforce, Seal Software, Clause, Authorize.net, eOriginal, Intelledox, Simplus, and Advanced Technology Group for making Momentum 2019 a success.
