Devoxx Belgium Recap

The DocuSign API team is coming off an amazing time at Devoxx Belgium, where it was all things Java. Members from our Paris and San Francisco offices were in attendance - along with 3,000 developers from around the world - to represent our Silver Sponsorship to show how to integrate electronic signatures and digital workflow into companies’ apps and websites using DocuSign’s Java SDK.

A lot of exciting things happened over the three-day conference last week from November 13 through 15, including James Gosling, Founder and Chief Architect of Java (currently a Distinguished Engineer for Amazon Web Services), making a surprise visit. James publicly announced the launch of Coretto, a no-cost, multi-platform, production-ready distribution of OpenJDK from Amazon.

We were thrilled with the love showed to DocuSign, both at our booth and during our speaking sessions. Beginning with the latter, Cyril Thirion, Engineering Manager at DocuSign, gave a terrific talk on Thursday for the Devoxx crowd. His discussion, “Digital Signatures and Blockchain: How DocuSign Does It,” demonstrated the technical and economic feasibility of blockchain for digital signatures.

Back at the DocuSign booth, we relished the conversations with the hundreds of visitors who stopped by. Not only did we continue discussions that stemmed from Cyril’s speaking session, but we provided demos, showed example workflows using DocuSign’s web application, our Developer Center, and our Java code launcher. Additionally, we talked with fellow devs about electronic seals support via our Java SDK, which was announced earlier this year at Devoxx France. We were also thrilled with the number of questions we had on DocuSign Identify, which was announced earlier this year at our Momentum events in London and Paris. You can read about it here and here. With more than 550 million platform transactions that run through DocuSign data centers, 60% of them use our SDKs, so Java plays an important part of the DocuSign developer ecosystem.

For a little more fun, we were giving away special DocuSign socks and stickers at our booth, and also raffled off Bose QC 35 II headphones. Congratulations to Vaidotas Juknys, from the Bank of Lithuania, who won our random drawing.

We want to thank everyone who stopped by our booth or attended our speaking session for doing so, and for their interest in the DocuSign API. We had an amazing time chatting with each and every one of you, and hope you check out some of our other great DocuSign Developer resources below:
