At DocuSign, we believe character is defined through action. Our goal as a company is to continuously create lasting, tangible change by tapping into the power of our people, our products, and our dollars through our DocuSign IMPACT Foundation. One key way we’ve been able to strengthen our global impact has been by taking the 1% Pledge.

Founded by Salesforce, Atlassian, and Rally, the Pledge 1% is a “global movement that has encouraged and empowered more than 2,700 companies in 60 countries to pledge 1% of either profit, equity, product, and/or employee time to their communities and a charity of their choosing.”

I’m proud to announce that last night DocuSign IMPACT was recognized with the Pledge 1% Impact award at the Forbes Cloud 100 Celebration. I had the opportunity to attend the ceremony with our Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer Scott Olrich, and to accept the award on behalf of DocuSign.

Taking the 1% Pledge in 2015 was simple, as it aligned with our values. DocuSign IMPACT is based around the concept that our responsibility as a corporation requires more than simply donating funds. In the words of our DocuSign IMPACT Foundation Chairman Keith Krach, our goal is to transform lives by transforming charitable causes. We do this in part by harnessing the power of our product to help nonprofits put more of their resources towards doing good, as well as the power of our people to support their charities and causes of their choice. We hope our actions inspire other companies to take the 1% Pledge to positively impact the communities in which they work and live.

I’m especially happy to announce that as part of Salesforce’s Pledge 1% Impact Award, we’ll receive a $10,000 grant to contribute to a cause of our choice. We’ve selected the American Heart Association, and will be participating as a company in their Heart Walk in September.  Additionally, Jeff Lawson, founder of Twilio (the winner of last year’s Pledge 1% Impact Award), announced that Twilio.org will match the $10,000 donation from Salesforce Foundation, doubling DocuSign’s impact on this important cause.  We at DocuSign look forward to carrying on this wonderful tradition next year!

I know I speak for everyone involved with DocuSign IMPACT when I say it’s an honor to be recognized. We encourage all organizations to take the 1% pledge as well — as a small contribution now can have profound, lasting impact in the future.
