Introducing: Craig Smith, Electronic Signature Technical Evangelist

Posted September 9, 2010

We're excited to announce an addition to the Developer Programs Team! Craig Smith is DocuSign's new Technical Evangelist, bringing 18 years of software development and management experience from WRG, Digeo and The Seattle Times.

In addition to having his name on two patents and building world class software in Java, C++, PHP and Python, Craig has also taught University of Washington Extension courses on programming.

So... what excites Craig most about being DocuSign's Technical Evangelist?

Several things - I'm a software developer who started with the venerable DEC MiniVAX and I've continued my involvement with computer enabled technology ever since. DocuSign's technology is fascinating and, well, awesome. The more I dig into it, the more impressed I am. Spreading the word about DocuSign's SaaS electronic signature platform and how to use our API to enable our technical community's great ideas will be a real pleasure.

I'm also excited about the capabilities of our electronic signature technology. Providing a verifiable way to sign documents is just the beginning of what we can do. Replacing the “paper trail” with smart, electronic documents is as big an idea as replacing those old DEC MiniVAX with desktop computers, making the individual much more productive.

Last, and certainly not least, I'm very excited to be part of Docusign's team. There's a real joy working with really smart, enthusiastic people. I'm looking forward to working with the DocuSign team and our technical community.

Craig will work closely with DocuSign's developer community - what does he want to learn from our technical community?

Turns out, Craig wants to learn many things:

I'd like your ideas on how to make the Docusign Developers Center work better for you. Would you like samples in other languages? Have you had any problems getting started? What do you like the most?

I'd like to know what you would like to do with our API. Our technical community tends to be very creative. I'd love to know some of your innovative ideas.

For more information about DocuSign's Developer Center, take a look the at resources we offer. From our SDK and API to electronic signature developer forums and eSign Here, DocuSign's electronic signature blog, we're always looking for ways to connect with our customers, developers and community members.
