How-To Resize (and Save!) Sign Here and Initial Tabs

Posted January 6, 2010

Last fall, we released the resizing function for Sign Here and Initial Here tabs so that you can resize your electronic signature to fit in your forms. Did you know that you can also save your resized Sign Here or Initial Tabs?

You can Adjust the Sign Here and Initial Tabs

DocuSign Sign Here and Initial Tabs are designed to fit in forms and to provide an indication of how the esignature or initials will look when the form is signed or initialed. The height of both tabs is the same height as the resulting signature or initials. If you mouse over the sign here tab or the initial tab, a preview display shows you the size of the resulting signature or initials.

Tips for Resizing the Sign Here and Initial Tabs

  • You can click and drag the slider bar to the left of the tab you want to resize.
  • The percentage of the standard size is displayed as you adjust the size.
  • The aspect ratio of the signature or initials is retained, so the width of the signature changes in relation to the change in height.

Standard height is half of an inch. You can resize down to a quarter of an inch, or 50% of the standard.

You can Save a Sized Signature or Initial!

  1. Click the Properties (it looks like a hand holding a piece of paper) of the sized Sign Here tab,
  2. Enter a name for the tab in the Label field,
  3. Click the Save as Custom button.

You can find your new Sign Here tab saved at your preferred scale in the Custom section of the tabs palette on the right side of the window. You can also do the same with the Initial tab!

By saving your preferences, you don't have to resize the tab using the slider every time. Pair your saved custom-sized signature or initial tabs with your templates and Intelligent Document Recognition™ (IDR) and you've just saved yourself even more time using DocuSign electronic signature!
