How-To Work With Carbon Copy, So DocuSign Works for You

Posted December 8, 2009

You create processes to manage your business. Did you know using DocuSign Electronic Signature Services saves you even more time with built-in features like Carbon Copy? Learn how to use Carbon Copy and you'll see why so many real estate professionals love DocuSign!

Carbon Copy or “CC” the Other Agent

Before DocuSign, you would have to wait for your clients to fax back signed documents for you to fax to the other agent before scanning a copy for your records. Alternatively, they could email you a scanned copy of signed documents for you to forward to the other agent - either way, you had to wait for the signed documents before taking the step of sending the documents on.

With DocuSign, you set up the documents for electronic signature by tabbing every location for signature or initial and address the electronic envelope with your clients' names, email addresses and designate your clients as “signers.”

You include the other real estate agent and his or her email address on the transaction, designating them as “CC:” - similar to the “cc:” line on email:

Once your clients have signed, DocuSign will automatically copy the signed documents to the other agent on the transaction. You don't have to wait for the email or fax to send to the other agent anymore and you'll receive a notification that your clients have signed.

You can even set automatic signing reminders that will remind your clients that they haven't completed the DocuSign electronic signing process - but that's another how-to for another time.

Now you're free to enjoy the holidays with your family, relax on your holiday travels or just take some year-end personal time.
