True Cloud Computing: “No Software” meets “No Paper”
With the introduction of DocuSign Connect for Salesforce this week, two of the most powerful cloud services can now work seamlessly together.
At the Dreamforce conference here in San Francisco the story is all about the ‘Cloud’ – and more specifically the Platform as a Service (PaaS) in the Cloud and the power of this new environment.
This year at Dreamforce, CEO and visonary Mark Benioff talked in his keynote about the arrival of cloud computing, and played up the advancements they have made by allowing applications that really go beyond CRM to be built on the force.com platform. Mark also talked about the power of interconnecting ‘cloud services’ to create even more powerful applications.
For example, he demonstrated interconnections to Amazon for storage and compute capacity, Facebook for social communication, and Google for interactive applications and mapping. The message here is that by leveraging the best tools from different clouds, a business can create more powerful and flexible solutions to meet their needs. All very interesting.
Completely in-line with this sort of ‘interconnect for the best of the best’, DocuSign quietly demonstrated an integration of leading Electronic Contract Execution platform ‘Cloud’ service to Salesforce. Now, the most powerful Cloud system for managing business data(force.com) is interconnected with the most powerful Cloud system for Electronic Contract Execution (DocuSign).
This interconnection called ‘DocuSign Connect for Salesforce’ delivers new ways to streamline and manage business transactions that require signatures, data collection, and routing inside and outside the enterprise – using Salesforce as the data repository for all transactions. DocuSign Connect for Salesforce is built on the newly announced ‘DocuSign Connect’ services.
Together Salesforce and DocuSign provide the following important new capabilities:
· 100% visibility AND control over the transaction as it happens with real-time status updates back into force.com objects
· Managed document workflows with serial or parallel routing to any number of recipients, inside or outside your company
· Contract Execution workflow templates for contracts or forms pre-set exactly how transactions are to execute including authentication and workflow
· Exact placement of e-signatures and initials into any document in any location to ensure compliance with government document rules and 3rd party reliance
· Data collection during the signing process by assigned role piped back into ANY Saleforce object or field
· Simultaneous data delivery to OTHER systems such as BPM or CLM services using the underlying Connect service
· Integrated multi-layer authentication system for sensitive or high value transactions
· Tamper proof contract management with end-end Encryption, continual document validation, and detailed audit trail of all activities
DocuSign’s service is enhanced by this interconnection to the Salesforce cloud several ways. One big way is the data reporting that is now possible. You can now literally ’see’ every single transaction, data field and step happening across your organization using Salesforce dashboard technology. This is true for contracts sent by users from Salesforce, but ALSO by ANY contract creation system using your DocuSign service for ECE. This means your ecommerce site that generates new accounts for you can be tracked. Remote signing by users who don’t have Salesforce accounts, etc. It centralizes everything.
So, as they were saying at the Dreamforce event – ‘the future is here’. Full enterprise class e-signature and contract execution is available for Salesforce courtesy of ‘the cloud’.
